For the past 11 years I have worked at the University of Delaware's Counseling Center. In addition to working with clients, I provided clinical supervision and served as the Assistant Director responsible for training over the past several years.
Prior to working at UD, I trained/worked in various places around the United States, including Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
Over the course of my career, I have developed expertise in working with college students, young adults, and professionals working toward connecting more deeply with themselves and with others. I have additional interest and training working with perinatal and parental mental health. I have worked closely with genetic counselors and have published several articles, book chapters, and presentations in recent years on their professional development throughout their career.
I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2009. As a native Floridian who got my B.A. in 1999 at Stetson University, my move to Minnesota was a cold but great one! My first career was pursuing a Ph.D. in English Literature before realizing counseling was a better fit, so I also hold Masters' degrees from Minnesota in English Literature and Counseling Psychology.

I am not trained as a genetic counselor, but have worked with genetic counselors since 2005, through research, supervision, and counseling skills training. I have published several articles and book chapters related to this work. I currently serve on the Medical Advisory Board of Remember the Girls, a nonprofit that seeks to unite, support, and empower females with X-linked Disorders.
In therapy, I have also worked with clients who have received diagnoses of a genetic disorder (themselves or for a loved one) and/or are deciding whether to engage in genetic testing for a range of disorders.
Currently, I work closely with the University of Maryland's Genetic Counseling Master's of Science training program on psychosocial assessment and providing/receiving supervision.
Additional programs I have worked with include Rutgers University and the Tri-State Consortium of Genetic Counselors.
Please contact me to discuss further if your organization/training program is interested in consultation about these or related topics. List of programs offered available upon request, or customization can be discussed based on your unique needs and interests.
I enjoy hiking, national parks (or any parks), camping, yoga, outdoor activities, reading, some guilty pleasure TV shows (when there's time) and spending time with family and friends.
